What is this website?

Hey! Welcome to Suomensanat! My name is Anton and I have built this app to practice conjugating Finnish verbs. The goal is to enable myself and other people to develop an intuition for how different Finnish verbs are conjugated without memorizing the grammar rules.

How does it work?

You are given a random verb in its base form, and your task is to inflect it according to the pronoun and the tense provided. After you do that, you'll be shown the breakdown of your attempt and have the option to continue to the next random verb. The process continues indefinitely.

The dataset of verbs used on this website consists of more than 3,000 of the most commonly used Finnish verbs, all sourced from Wiktionary.

Why create an account?

When you are signed in, each conjugation attempt is recorded to calculate statistics such as the total number of correct/wrong attempts and your progress on each conjugation of a specific verb. You can find all available statistics on your Account page.

Having an account also allows you to target practiced conjugations by verb types, pronouns, tenses, and more.

Is it free to use?

For now, you can use 100% of the app for free. I might try to monetize it in the future, but only for new users.
